Recently I Was In A Discussion…
With a business man who had been considering implementing a new process that he hoped would bring in some positive results for his business.
He spent nearly two months hemming and hawing before he actually bit the bullet and actually implemented it.
He got amazing results, much better than he expected.
He wasn’t happy.
He revealed during the discussion that he considered the process he used to be unprofessional.
He still believed that if his customers and clients knew he’d used it that it would negatively impact his business and he was still uncomfortable with the idea of using it again, despite the results.
It Got Me Thinking
Was that process really all that unprofessional?
I know that I wouldn’t think twice about using it and using it successfully in my business if the occasion arose.
When I drilled down with precise questions, it came down to his own fears and doubts holding him back and worrying about any possible negative impact this might have.
The process is a pretty common one and one I’ve had to deal with regularly with clients of mine over the last few years.
I carried out a small survey asking for feedback on whether this process was
3) Didn’t care either way
The overwhelming results I got were that 80% of the respondents thought it was acceptable, only 12% thought it was unprofessional and 8% didn’t care either way.
What Is The Next Step?
I invited him to look at his reasoning for his belief and to question the actual reality of his perception by quizzing his own target audience.
This is something he hasn’t done yet.
